Falkirk District Women’s Aid is now CEA.
Over the last 40 years, we have grown from strength to strength responding to changing social, political and economic climates and adapting our services to reflect changing needs.
As our service adapts, the name Falkirk District Women’s Aid is no longer suitable and we have now formally changed to Committed to Ending Abuse (CEA). Our new name reflects our aims and our vision.
Moving forward with our re-brand and launch, we are embracing current approaches and thinking particularly in relation to working with men who have experienced or are experiencing abuse and trauma. We are building upon our 3 Stage Integrated Trauma Recovery Model which has proved to be so effective in terms of trauma recovery.
In looking forward to our future, we also reflect on our beginnings. CEA is here today because of a small number of local women were not prepared to accept the status quo and who challenged the idea that Domestic Abuse was acceptable. They joined together to establish a charity that was to challenge this very notion and in 1976 Falkirk and District Women’s Aid was established as part of Sottish Women’s Aid network together with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee.
We could not achieve the work we do without the involvement of those organisations and individuals who either fund the work we do or have supported us. In doing so, you have supported the people who use our services. For this we thank you and we look forward to many more years of close working relationships.
