Community Safety Prevention & Support Service within HMP Young Offenders Institution, Polmont
The work we do within HMPYOI Polmont focuses predominantly on Safety and Stabilisation, supporting those in custody who are affected by domestic abuse. This is an inclusive service. We support all individuals who have; witnessed domestic abuse in childhood, been victims/ survivors of domestic abuse in their own relationships, or who identify themselves as having controlling behaviours in relationships.
CEA are the only charity in Scotland offering this kind of specialised support to people in custody, working with all aspects of domestic abuse. Anyone who engages with this service would either be convicted by a court or on remand.
CEA work at 3 levels:
- Individual client level
- Inter-agency level
- Strategic and policy level
If the service is client centred and responsive, it needs to be structured to mirror the client trauma recovery journey.

ASK FOR ANI CODEWORD
‘ANI’ stands for Action Needed Immediately. If a pharmacy has the ‘Ask for ANI’ logo on display, it means they’re ready to help. They will offer you a private space, provide a phone and ask if you need support from the police or other domestic abuse support services.
